Does Accutronics design battery electronics?
Yes, all of our battery electronics are designed in-house by our team of dedicated electronics engineers. Battery electronics may be as simple as protection circuitry but more often comprises fuel gauge circuitry, charge control and software development.
Does Accutronics manufacture cells?
No, we do not manufacture the cells themselves, instead we have strategic relationships with a number of global cell suppliers from which we select the cell most appropriate for your application. We regularly meet with our cell suppliers to ensure we have the latest roadmap information, ensuring that our customers receive the latest information regarding what is new and what might be coming to end of life. We work with our suppliers to ensure that our customers can transition to new cell models as they become available - this is critical where our customers are usually leaders in their chosen field and have products with product life cycles measured in decades rather than years.
What are the different Lithium Ion Technologies?
The four most common Lithium ion Cathode Technologies currently available are: Cobalt (LiCoO2), Manganese (LiMn2O4), NCM (Li(NiCoMn)O2 and Phosphate (LiFePO4). Each cell technology has its own advantages and disadvantages. Accutronics develops and manufactures batteries in all four of these chemistries and will choose the most appropiate technology for your technical and commercial requirements.
